Linking Hypopneas to Desaturation Drops

The Noxturnal software allows users to link hypopneas to desaturation drops. This knowledge base article explains what governs the linking of hypopneas to desaturations.

The Noxturnal respiration analysis links hypopneas to a desaturation drop if the desaturation drop occurs in the time period from when a hypopnea starts + 3 seconds until 15 seconds after the hypopnea ends.

Examples of linked hypopneas are:

  • if a desaturation drop occurs 5 seconds after a hypopnea starts.
  • if a desaturation drop occurs 10 seconds after a hypopnea ends.

Examples of hypopneas that are not linked are:

  • if a desaturation drop occurs 1 second after a hypopnea starts.
  • if a desaturation drop occurs 18 seconds after a hypopnea ends.
