Learn how to set up the Nox C1 Access Point and how to integrate auxiliary devices for online studies using the Nox A1 PSG system. The following article is a set up guide and here you will find references to the relative material for the Nox C1.
1. Online System Setup
Connect the Nox C1 with an ethernet cable to the LAN network as it will function as a Bluetooth access point for the Nox A1.
The Nox C1 is shipped as a DHCP server with a Fixed IP. The system settings can be changed within the Noxturnal Software or the Noxturnal tablet App. To change the settings via Noxturnal:
- Create an online room (see section 2.1)
- Add the Nox C1 device to the room
- Select the device and Click Edit Device
Changes can be made within the Device Properties dialog and click Next > and Finish. Network changes will be effective as soon as the user has clicked Finish
2. Add Auxiliary Devices - Serial ports
In order to use auxiliary devices that are connected to the Nox C1 device they need to be added to the online room.
Devices that are available to connect with a serial port are:
- ResMed S9 and ResMed Airsense 10
- Sentec
- Radiometer
- Masimo Oximetry
These devices can be connected using a standard 3.5mm jack to 9-pin RS232 connector.
To add these devices select the specific device from the device types list in the Add Device manager and click Add >>
Select the Connection Type: as C1 Serial Port and choose which port you want to use. Click Next > and Finish
Connect the device physically to the selected port
The device is ready to use
3. Add Auxiliary Devices - Analog ports
The use of the analog inputs on the Nox C1 device allow the user to input various types of auxiliary devices that do not have a default Noxturnal support but do output analog signals. This chapter will go through how it is possible to setup sensor definitions and implement them to be used by the Nox C1 to record signals during an online recording.
For most auxiliary devices that have analog outputs follows a brochure with information that can be used to define how the input voltage is converted to a signal in Noxturnal. Example of this kind of information is shown below:
For some commonly used devices these settings might be available for import on the Nox Medical Support Site. Try the search!
The following steps apply if the user has information about the analog output parameters of the auxiliary device as described above.
3.1 Defining Sensors
Start by navigating to Devices > Sensors
Click New
Create a new auxiliary sensor and add the specific information from the device manufacturer. Example blow is based on channel 1 in the brochure above. Make sure to leave the function field empty since the function is calculated from the physical and voltage range. Click Ok
The sensor will be added to the list of sensors under the category that was defined. Define all new sensors required for your auxiliary device to be connected to the DC inputs of the Nox C1. The next step is to add these sensors into a device profile for the Nox C1
3.2 Create a device profile
Navigate to Devices > Device Profiles
Click New
Select Nox C1 from the drop down list
Give the profile a name and choose which channels you want to use and what sensor specifications should be used for each channel. Click Finish
The new device profile is added under the Nox C1 section and is ready to be used when Starting a new online recording or when creating a new recording type as is described in the Nox A1 Setup guide for online recording.
