Overview
This Release Bulletin announces the release of the following Noxturnal software and CDs
- Noxturnal – 7.3.0 - 41978
- Noxturnal US – 7.3.0 – 41978
Noxturnal 7.3 focuses on improving system stability while delivering targeted usability and reporting enhancements. The software update includes a software resolution for previously observed asynchronous flow behavior, resulting in improved overall system performance, along with important updates such as segmented hypoxic burden (REM/NREM/Supine/Non-Supine), automatic association of arousals and PLMs, separation of tech notes from scoring, improved axis line configuration, customizable spectrogram display, and REI calculation updates. Included in the software is an updated firmware to address Nonin unhandled response issues.
The software also contains new versions of the Nox T3s and Nox A1s firmware:
- Nox T3s Firmware – 3.1.3.2929
- Nox A1s Firmware – 3.1.3.2929

List of Features and Bug Fixes
The following features and bug fixes are included as a part of the Noxturnal software with this release:
Features new to Noxturnal 7.3
🔹Feature: Reporting of Hypoxic burden in REM/NREM and Supine/Non-Supine
- Hypoxic burden as a non-clinical parameter can now be displayed across REM/NREM and Supine/Non-Supine conditions.
🔹Feature: Automatic association for Arousals and PLMs
- Automatically associates arousals with respiratory, LM and PLM events.
- Series of limb movements are now automatically linked and classified as PLMs when defined criteria are met.
- Automatic association feature is turned off by default. Feature can be turned on/off in settings.
🔹Feature: Separate Tech Notes from Scoring
- With this update, tech notes (F2) remain attached to the recording. If a user creates a new scoring, the tech notes will not disappear.
🔹Feature: Improved Axis line configurations
- Allows users to set axis lines for improved signal visualization.
🔹Feature: Spectogram improvements
- From the overview you can now select source signal from a list of available signals, choose from predefined color schemes, and adjust Y-axis and stepwise Z-axis with option to reset to default.
- From the Recording Results page, you can select a source signal from a list of available signals and choose from predefined color schemes.
🔹Feature: Respiratory Event Index (REI) calculation updates
- Adds new REI report parameter calculations including both 3% and 4% desaturation for Supine and Non-Supine positions.
⚠ Known Issues Fixed
- Asynchronous Flow signal relative to other recorded signals.
- Tweak indexing of the recording library so that fewer folders appear offline.
- Single click scoring not working for languages.
- Firmware within Noxturnal improving handling for Nonin unhandled response issues.
- PtCO2 Sentec signal appears double in the signal sheet.
- Manually scored events of the same type overlap but are counted as one in the report.
Upgrade Recommendation and Workarounds for Nox Users
Noxturnal Upgrade Wizard
Noxturnal 7.3.0
Noxturnal 7.3.0 has a built-in upgrade wizard for all users upgrading from 5.X or 6.X versions of Noxturnal. This upgrade wizard prompts the user with selections on whether they want to upgrade with their old settings as part of the installation procedure or if they want a fresh installation.
Noxturnal US 7.3.0
Upgrading from Noxturnal US 6.X.X
The Upgrade wizard will pop up with information on whether the user wants to maintain old user settings or if they want a fresh installation.
Upgrading from version 5.x or older
If upgrading in the US market from a version 5.X or older, consider the upgrade instructions here.
Older Noxturnal Versions
If users are working on an older version of Noxturnal (3.X and 4.X), it is recommended to do a fresh installation and setup of the software since so many things have changed in recent releases and updating on top will create more problems than it solves.
